Context-aware AI assistant for large codebases
Cody is an AI coding assistant by Sourcegraph, designed to work with and understand large codebases. It can answer questions about your code (like “Where is this function defined?” or “How does this API call flow through the system?”) by reading your repository, and it can generate code or tests based on existing patterns in the codebase. Cody uses a combination of Sourcegraph’s search and embeddings to provide relevant context to an AI model, enabling it to give more project-specific answers. It's available through Sourcegraph's interface and has a VS Code extension. Enterprises can integrate it with their internal code, and there's a limit on context size for the free version. It's especially useful for onboarding to a new codebase or navigating unfamiliar code quickly.
